Life Ahead
Life Ahead is an adaptive and evolving independence initiative that includes a social club, a workspace, and a future community housing project. By partnering with participants and their caregivers, we strive to provide a safe, motivating social environment where adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities can actively explore, reflect on, and shape their own unique vision of independence.
Through collaboration with participants, caregivers, and trusted community members, we aim to foster an inspiring environment where individuals can engage in meaningful work, connect through social interaction, and take on social responsibilities that help sustain the club, while also developing life skills and exploring vocational opportunities.

"THE HUB"
We’re excited to launch phase one of Life Ahead: The Hub, a welcoming and inspiring social club and workspace for members to enjoy a blend of personalized support and self-directed solo or group activities... with plenty of laughter, fun times and silly moments woven in :)
Each member will have assigned duties and responsibilities as well as opportunities to take on extra work or sell club-crafted items to help cover future membership costs. We hope this model will ease pressures on primary caregivers and families, foster a sense of community, offer meaningful work, and open more avenues and choices along the path to independence.

The "big picture" plan for Life Ahead is that every participant will have opportunities to work or create and sell handmade items, helping to offset membership costs and earn potential income from additional sales. We are also working on individual and group fundraising options to assist with dues or provide complete scholarships. I will provide more information on these opportunities in the upcoming weeks.
